Amy Susan

Amy Susan is the Director of Communications and Strategic Operations of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations. Prior to her career with state government, she worked as an investigative journalist for the NBC affiliate television station and later the CBS affiliate reporting on government agencies and programs. In 2007, she began working in the communications unit for the Secretary of State’s office where she focused on developing educational products for constituents to better understand their rights and how to utilize various state programs. In 2009, she joined the Department of Labor as the Public Information Officer to manage media relations and disseminate messaging campaigns. Her role later grew to include identifying antiquated department processes and developing streamlined electronic solutions to increase efficiency and reduce costs. Since this administration took office, thousands of forms have been made available online and dozens of services and exchanges are accessible electronically to improve user experience when interacting with the department.

Susan, a native of St. Louis, earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia's School of Journalism. She currently serves on the Family and Community Trust Board and the Children's Services Commission representing the department, and on the Rainbow House Emergency Shelter's planning committee.

She resides in Columbia with her husband, Bogdan, and two children, Brinkley and Rocco.
